Place of Assembly Permit, Operation

Approved A-2 event spaces (intended for food and/or drink consumption) or A-3 event spaces (intended for worship, recreation, amusement, or other assembly), authorized to have more than 49 occupants, require a San Francisco Fire Department Operational Permit.

Application Instructions:

1) Contact the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection (DBI) to verify that the requested address is an approved assembly space.  

Note 
Applications will not be accepted until the applicant has proven the space is “A” occupancy and specifically which type (ex: A-2 or A-3).

2) Print and complete the San Francisco Fire Department Permit Application (linked below). 

3) Bring the completed form to the Bureau of Fire Prevention at 698 2nd Street, Room 109, San Francisco, CA 94107 for additional instruction.
